about

"I am genuinely intrigued by Ximena. I love their take on the post-rock genre. I know they’re talented and I appreciate their willingness to experiment. The band has thrown all traditional music construction methods to the wind. The music is a grungy mix of unpredictable riffs that can go from mellow to high strung in a matter of seconds and bounce back and forth as many times as they like.

One instrument that did stick was Matt Parthree’s bass which was incredibly cool. His contribution was my favorite because he had such a distinctive voice. I also have to credit drummer B Hollister for pulling off some seriously tough feats of percussion. I think it’s safe to say that all members of the band are truly craftsmen with their instruments. Every one of them demonstrates legitimate and undeniable skill in this album."
